View Full Version : Changing articulations problem

I have this 4 bar passage where I'm using F SFH Sus DXF. Then a 1/4 rest (BPM=120) and I switch to F SFH Sus Accent Mod. The second passage has to softer. Problem is, none of the the CC's work within the second passage. If I start playing on the second passage, it works fine, but starting anywhere during the previous passage, or earlier, no response from the CC. It doesn't matter what articulation I use for the second part, I've even tried a bassoon. However, using an instrument from a different library works just as intended.

The work around I used is to use 2 different tracks and channels, but I would like to know why EWQLSO Pro XP Gold is behaving in this fashion. BTW, I'm using Sonar 7 and Kontack 2.

The fact that an instrument from another library works is throwing me...... otherwise, and you might still check, do you have a track in the project with the same midi out port/channel by accident? It might have some midi info that counters the track you are working on.

I didn't catch how you are switching articulations (i can't remember from the other post), but that would have a definite bearing on where to look for answers.

Might also be worth highlighting the part in question and using whatever midi function Sonar has to delete all CC information for that part and then starting over, in case there is CC info associated with that channel earlier and the relevant CC info for the part isn't on the right channel, or something weird like that going on ...

Is there some track automation interfering?

Thanks for the response guys.

I've already check all my channel assaignment on each track and cc for the instance of Kontack. Not the problem.

I use patch changes to change articulation.

Can you please post a screen shot of your track sequence and the event list for the whole track?

Some MIDI CC calls STICK with the patch throughout the time when they aren't selected for modification--so, for example, say you're using the expression CC and you ramp up the start of the F SFH Sus DXF passage, but you accidentally call the patch initialization for the F SFH Sus DXF right after the first near zero CC call, then it would be applied to the instrument currently selected before the first patch change and that would be the last patch used at the end of the piece.

Try making sure that volume and expression are both at 127 after your patch change call.

Also, remember, that the mod wheel controls the attack of F SFH Sus Accent Mod not the dynamics, which are controlled with velocity.

Thanks Dan,

I'm leaving early tom. morn. on a cruise so I will monkey with this after I get back. Why would I want my volume and espression at 127 after the patch change?
