View Full Version : Holiday Gold

This is my arrangement of Auld Lang Syne.
All Gold.
This is something im doing for my first TV job.
Its 1 of 12 pieces im doing. I'll be writing 3 myself.
The rest are traditional holiday pieces.

Anyway, for this piece, they just asked for 60 seconds of
Auld Lang. They like things on the hyped/dramatic side.

It needs plenty of tweaks , but its pretty good so far.
I wrote the intro in this clip by the way. Let me know
if it sucks. :p I didnt try to find any midi for any of this stuff.
Im going strictly by memory. If you hear any harmony issues,
please advise. :)

I also have to do a pop punk, and techno version of this song.
That has been interesting. ;)

Man, ive been very busy, but im having alot of fun, and
learning alot in the process. :)

Things im using for this project include Gold, Drumkit from Hell Superior
BFD , Trilogy, Atmosphere, Stylus, Altered States, Line 6 Pod.

Todd - that's sounding very cool. . .

I've just got Gold and I'm dying to get into it. .

ps - You might want to check your melody there. ..The note on the 2nd syllable of "forgot" isn't an accidental. . ;-)

Haha, i knew i'd miss some notes in there somewhere. :)

Very nice Todd! Usually when you hear that tune it's a bit boring, but that was a very exciting and dynamic version. Amazing that it's all from memory! I bet they'll love it. I can't imagine what a techno version would be like! Can't wait to hear more!

(Ditto on the note on the 1st syllable of "forgot") ;)

Sorry TK but the melody is not quite right! If I get the chance later today (I'm going away for a few days) I'll send you the correct melody - as known here in Scotland.

Here's a link to the traditional melody:

You'll need the Scorch player plug-in in your browser to see the score and hear it. if you have a problem let me know and I'll get a version I can send to you. All the best,

Well, I'd let you have that much artistic freedom if I was to use this, since it's so great in every other sense.

The arrangement and programming is fantastic. . .but its such a well-known melody here in Scotland that even the ordinary man in the street would notice the change.

I'm not criticising. .was just pointing it out so that Todd has the choice of changing it. awp - very kind of you to dig out a link. .

Wow great job Todd, they'll be loving that i'm sure :) I do have to say i did recognise the mistake on the melody, but it shouldn't take much to change it.

Look forward to techno and punk versions :D

Yup, easy to change. Not a problem.

I learned yet another good lesson here. I really must make sure
of these melodies, and not rely on memory. :p

Lesson learned. :) I love this job, and would never want to inadvertantly
screw it up. :p
Heppy to hear everyone likes the programming and overall sound. :)

great job - sorry-I should have said that in the first place - I've never heard a punk or techno version before - look forward to that!
