View Full Version : No result when using x-Note Volume in Wordbuilder

Hello all,

a question about the parameter x-Note Volume. I didn't find any answer in the manual or this forum.

If I try to use x-Note Volume I get no results. I draw a curve from 127 to 0, but the sound is ever the same, no effects on the volume. So I can't fade out or fade in. What's wrong? Tried several multis - nothing. I use Wordbuilder as an insertplugin in Cubase SX and Kompakt (delivered with Symphonic Choirs).

Thank you!

Hi Frank welcome to the forum :)

Same thing here in SX I can flatline zero the volume curve and the volume remains the same , also if I change volume curves and save a voice file it reports an error when it is
opend again , I susspect its a bug

Thank you for the answer, Magpie.

I made the following test: Only one long vocal (2 Seconds) in Wordbuilder and a curve from 127 to 0. If I use CC 11 (Expression) for that curve, all is OK, I heard the result. After this I switched the curve to x-Note Volume and nothing. Same Volume over the note, no changes. I can the volume-curve move to 0 or 127, it's ever the same.

I tried to "Mix MIDI in loop", (don't know, if this function was enable on SX 1) to see, which MIDI-events Wordbuilder sends to Kompakt. There was the long note itself and a lot of "Poly Pressure"- messages on the same note with decreasing values from 127 to 0. It seems that Kompakt does not handle this messages correct. I tried this with several Multies and several mics.

So I can not use crossfades. And a word like "throw" has not a soft blending between "o" and "u" like described in the manual.

Or did I understand anything not right?

I don't have EWQLSC myself so I don't know if this would help but in EWQLSO Silver, in the options menu, there is a switch called "USE STD. CC#7 / CC#10 VOLUME & PAN". Try to enable it and see if it helps.

As I said, I'm not sure if this helps you but it was the only thing I could think of...

Thank you, Ranietz.

Yes, I tried to enable this button in Kompakt - no effect. The "o" and "u" vocals for tenor as an example are on the same instrument in the multi, that means, that Wordbuilder sends the "o" and "u" at the same MIDI-channel (in this case 1). A different volume (CC7) curve or expression (CC11) curve for "o" and "u" will never have the wished effect, because both curves will send together for both vocals. The solution is surely the "Poly Pressure" message, but it doesn't work. :(

I'm sure, the developers have tested this, a bug of Kompakt? Hm.

Is there anybody who has heard a correct crossfade produced by Wordbuilder?

I have confirmed a bug in Kompakt. The x-note volume (crossfading etc...) is not working. I can't believe we didn't find out until now. This would explain some of the poor results from WB that I have heard. However, it does work fine if you use Kontakt 1.5 or higher. We are on it.

Thank you, Nick, thought I'm too stupid.

Hope for an update of Kompakt, would be very nice, cannot bye Kontakt now.

Best regards

Thanks Nick ,

It is reassuring to know it is now a confirmed bug and encouraging to know you "are on to it"
