Get Apogee.

24 bit IS essential to me; but as for 192kHz, its all up to your own ears.

I prefer MOTU. I'm sure lots of folks can vouch for RME. Your mileage will vary. LEX can give you a good pros and cons breakdown.

so the 192 khz isnt really a must? and I also noticed their is no midi connection for the 2408. So a usb keyboard is needed I assume

Buy the Best soundcard/system you can afford. :)

if all the vst software is 24/44.1 is their a need to use 192khz? I heard the ear doesn't even pick it up.

Apogee over MOTU is kinda becoming the new 'no brainer'.
Lots of MOTU gears breaks in VERY annoying and unfixable ways.
Never even HEARD of a problem with Apogee gear.

Sorry my experience is just the opposite. MOTU is solid for me and many others I know. For many years.

And Apogee is getting a bad rap right now an plenty of Pro Forums.

I don’t know why would you need any sound card for your Mac because the one that you already have is very good one. I still use my in built sound card in Mac quad and no problems. The actual quality is great! Unless if you are after something specific but I wouldn’t worry about it at all

folks need sound cards when multiple INS and outs are necessary. I.e. Building a 'farm'.

In that case OK.

type in apogee

Theres also a guy on the Logic users list who works a music pro retail store and he sees so many units returned. (more than usual) I've returned 2 duets so far and one ensemble.
