I'm having a very difficult time replicating a chamber ensemble sound using SO plat & PlatXP. It seems like the library is meant for only large-sized ensembles, and not for small, intimate ensembles, with close mic'ing. Does anyone have any tips for getting chamber-style orchestrations to sound authentic out of this library?
I originally mocked up my piece using the basic orchestral sounds that come in logic8 (very dry, I think they are VSL samples as they have the same file names) and the end sound was very chamber-sounding. However, since trying to convert each part over to EWQL, it seems like the reverb tails built into the samples for each instrument are causing the piece to sound fake.

I use the solo instruments in Gold XP and have been pretty happy with the results. It's not ideal, but as you said the EWQL software is not really designed for the more intimate settings. Here's a link to some chamber works I've done.

Also try modifying panning for C mics, because it's very wide by default.

This is why I hope someday EW will release a Chamber music library. One can hope, right? :D
