Hi guys just wondering if Vision daw and Sonica labs are the only music pc builders. It seems the vison daw builds better 8 core machines but sonica labs builts better quad core. At least for the money.

Either one of the two will get you there.

I tend to lean towards Sonica. They're 1500.00 machine is hard to beat.

Two others to check out, and come highly recommended are ADK (Scott) and Studiocat (Jim Roseberry).

I had my slave computer built by Steve: www.samplebytes.com. He is a nice guy to deal with, very responsive to all of my questions (and boy, as a newbie, there were a lot of them), and he delivered on his promises. My slave computer runs just fine. It's a small company, not like vision DAW, but my experience is positive. In fact, I think I will let him do the upgrade to 64 bit (more on that in a separate post).

ps he built a customized windows based pc for me: 2.4 GHz 6600 quad core pentium pro, 4 GB RAM, 250 + 500 GB + 500 GB fast processing hard disks, Windows XP professional 32 bit with service pack 2. Paid a little over $ 1700.

Yep. Guy is one of the best. Plus he and other builder outside the US share and test things together.

So you are really getting 2 people together building 1 DAW.
