Hi guys just wanted to know what the main difference is between the E-mu 1212m and the 0404 pci card? And which would be better for midi recording?

Basically the essential differences are:

- 1212m boasts better AD/DA Converters.

- 1212m has 2 PCI cards; 1 for your 2 pairs of I/O options as well as MIDI, and the other containing an EDI port, S/PDIF and ADAT connections. The 0404 PCI uses 2 breakout cables containing all of the same inputs minus ADAT.

- 1212m has balanced inputs and outputs whereas the 0404 has only unbalanced I/O support.

Comparing the specs I would suggest the 1212m would be better.

thanks a lot for the info. I found someone who is selling the emu1212m for 80 dollars. Is their anything I should be looking at when buying this unit used?

How long has the seller been using it? Also, find out why he is selling the unit. Basically the seller's reputation for honesty and care of his products is important; along with whether the unit is still in good working condition and has warranty.

Be careful. I had bad experiences w' 1212m. Some love it but i hated the drivers and had tons problems.
