Hi everybody,

I am Kim-Chye, a beginner composer from sunny island, Singapore. I chanced upon this forum when I am doing some research in the prospect of acquiring a wider and possibly better sounding orchestral samples. I am currently working on Mac G5 Dual 2.7GHz with Logic Studio 8 and Kontakt 3.

I am really keen on the EW/QL Symphonic Orchestra. Hope you don't mind but I do have a few questions:

What's the differences between the EW/QL Symphonic Orchestra (which is due to release on 15 July) and the existing EWQLSO?

What's a PLAY edition? I have a PC (Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @3.0GHz) which I am intending to turn into a sampling slave while the Mac "masters". So do I need the PLAY edition?

I'm sorry if the questions that I have asked are too elementary.

Best regards,

Kim-Chye

Welcome kimchye. The play engine is a new sample engine. Whereas Kompakt is the old technology. Samples are the same, the patches are the same. Play is where its at in the future. Its the version that will be supported in the future. There are a few other differences, but you'll have to look them up.

Hope that helps.

Anyway welcome.

Hi OneThrow & Fongi,

Thanks for your welcome. And OneThrow, thanks for your explanation. Anyway, have placed order for the EWQLSO PLatinum Play. Am kinda excited about its release and delivery.

Cheers,

Kim-Chye
