Very interesting indeed - kind of reminds me of www.pandora.com, which is the offspring of the Music Genome Project, where they analyse types of music based on a number of characterics which go beyond the usual categories.
If you sign up for Pandora - which is free - you get a type of free internet radio, that lets you enter the name of the band or music you like, and then they will play that, but you will also hear similar music. You can vote whether you like it or not, and based on those votes, the music that is being played will be "guided" in a certain direction.
Very interesting. (Had it on my old and slow computer but it tended to crash it, haven't retried it yet).

Pandoras a great internet service to recommend! I love it. I remember though a couple years ago when I first signed up I was a bit dissapointed as many of the groups and types of music I like to listen to are rather rare to find so I;d keeping getting the same ALBUM recommendation for similar music matches. :) But they HAVE expanded their library over time.
Highly recommended!

I'm glad they made the 'guitar hero' reference in that article. It was my first thought. The thing I find real odd about the whole guitar hero thing is when people find out that I play guitar or they hear me play and then say, "I can't play, but I'm real good at guitar hero!" I always feel like saying, "You know if you spent 2 hours with a real guitar in your hands every night instead of guitar hero you could actually play the guitar!"
