View Full Version : Syncing string attacks in EWQLSO Gold?

In a piece I've written, I use Cellos and Violins 1 & 2. There is a marcato articulation for the violin sections but not for the cellos in Gold. The cellos lag behind the violin sections' marcato attacks, so the resultant audio rhythms are blurred.

Is there a way to fix this in Kompakt, or do I adjust the recorded audio note by note, or is there something else to do?

I'm using Kompakt player (with Digital Performer for Mac - which I think has nothing to do with this).

Ideas:

* grab all the marcato notes and move them.
* move the marcato notes to another track and set that track's time shift to compensate. That way, the notes still line up visually, but sound in sync.

Thanks, Stefan.
That's a good idea. IS THERE a cellos section articulation in Gold that will match the attacks of marcato violin sections, though? In case I missed something. :)

Hi Frank,

I'm not sure which marcato strings your useing but there are a couple of cellos you might try.

C VCS Quick Up Dn (This one I think is a closer miced one)
F VCS Quick Up Dn (This I think is a Far miced one)
F VCS Mart Up Dn (This doesn't have as sharp or quick attack as the other two)

Don't forget that you can further edit these at least a little bit with the "Volume Envelope". The two main parameters for working with the samples above would be the "Attack" and "Decay". You have to click on the instrument you want to edit and then select "Group Edit". In the case of the Cellos above you can leave "Edit All" on.

Hope this helps.

Thanks T. S.
I'll try those cello articulations along with the changes in the Kompakt player you suggested. Between the two ideas, one or both should do the trick!
Frank ;) :) :p
