Seeking composers/performers for live performance of new music in a virtual music hall in Second Life.
We are a small hall in the on-line virtual world of Second Life, presenting concerts of new music, and Second life is an excellent way of networking. We are especially interested in art noise, ambient, minimalism, computer music, music influenced by popular styles.

If you have any solo works, duets or electro-acoustic works you would like to perform live there, please contact Tim Risher at ploppy@trrmg.com for more information on how to get involved in virtual performance at our hall.

You can't spell Opportunity without the letters in Ploppy.

So this would be a Plopportunity then? :D

Incidentally, I know of a guy who does regular Second Life gigs. From all acounts, he makes more money from gigging there than he does from his real-world gigs. Side benefit: he can peform in his PJs and no one's any the wiser. :)

Kind regards.

Who knows, maybe it's the next big thing...and I guess a virtual environment is the perfect place for virtual instruments...

awessssome... second life deals with real life money, you buy in game credits using a service like paypal. i was thinking about actually getting an account and seeing what all the hubbub is about.

the virtual performance is interesting, i wonder how will they sync up performers? we all know that in music, being off by a second is a lot, so how are they dealing with lag? especially if they have an audience? maybe i'll just have to check it out... :)

hey, it's still an opportunity for more people to hear to your work.

@ Enrique. Psh, I tried Second Life for a little while. Lots of ppl (including me) find it laggy as hell and unplayable. Those that can play, still face lag.

Second Life more and more is getting a bad rep, from lag to simply having a weird coimmunity. Not to mention possibly was would be a lame idea to many ppl: second life? Why do I want a game that's just another real world thing? chatting, business....bleh. I like my life as it is, I've got better things to do.

Personally i'm much more interested in Entropia, which i've started playing. No lag at all, although straming audio was a bit choppy for me.

Entropia is like second life + WOW. You can still tranfer in game credits to and from US dollars, you can open a business, get into real estate, chat with ppl... but it's also set in the future, and there's weapons. You can go play in PvP areas to fight other people, get a group together and go hunting animals, etc. So, had the capability of being both a game for fun, shooting, etc, as well as being liek second life for making a business or soemthing, whether or not it end up being profitable in real life. I like entropia so far, even though i've logged just under 13 hours. but putting together the best of both worlrd, I think it's VERY promising. :) I think Entropia really fits more into being an alternate world, because you could just be a trader and never hold a weapon, or you could be all for hunting. There tons of amazing alien creatures, and huge amazing landscapes... it's pretty darn cool.
