Hi guys I wanna buy some PLAY software and for this I would like to build a 8-core PC.
So far this is the parts I'm thinking of getting.

cosmos 1000
Mobo: TYAN Tempest i5400PW
Cpu: 2xE5410
Ram: ?
E-mu1212m
System drive 80 gig
Sample drive 2x500 gig
Power: Zippy PSL-6850P
Video nVidea 8600GT

My problem is it seems that server ram is very expensive. Can anyone suggest a good ram for a server 8-core or perhaps a better mobo?

Sure unless someone knows of an incompatibility and posts it somewhere.

thanks Allan,

on the TYAN website it has this http://www.tyan.com/support_download_memory.aspx?model=S.S5397

Does this mean I can only use these rams? I checked prices for some and it like 130 or more for 2 gigs of ram.

I'm 95% certain that those server chips require Double Buffered ECC ram (which is more expensive, slower, but more reliable than the Non-ECC ram for a standard PC).

Currently, the fastest DB ECC ram is 800 MHZ, and up to 8 GB a module.
