I know that when you've finished mixing and are at the mastering stage you're supposed to do everything before converting bit depth to 16 bit at which point you add dither, usually triangular for best results. My question is......when using Waves L1 UltraMaximiser it gives you the option to dither at 16bit, 24 bit etc, as part of the maximising process. If you do that should you employ dithering when converting the bit depth also, or should you dither at 24 bit while the file is still in 24 bit and then again at 16 when converting to 16 bit. Hope that all makes sense.
