Hello all,
Using the new PLAY SO platinum plus complete, I'm having some trouble getting realistic-sounding section strings passages, particularly with longer notes. Specific ideas are strings playing long chords (whole notes etc.), so D major one measure, E major the next, etc. The same issue is true for melodies with long notes.
A large issue I'm having while trying to do this is with "hiccups" between the chord changes, and note changes in the particular instruments. There are some great-sounding articulations, but the attacks are very slow with the expressive/lyrical ones, and too fast for the sustain/legato ones. With the former, there are "hiccups," and with the latter, it the notes start too suddenly. I've tried mixing and matching articulations but with little success ... help please!
God bless,
Alex

Make the first note of your passage a slower-attack articulation, then try switching over to a QLegato articulation. Realistic passages will use multiple articulations. Experiment and have fun!

did you try overlapping the notes a little between chords?

Thanks! I've found that a combination of overlapping the notes, adjusting the attack and release envelopes (less attack, longer release), quieting the release trails by about 50%, and using a small amount of EW hall reverb (all in PLAY) makes it sound much better. It's not perfect, but it is much more believable.
