Hi

Im trying to install EWQL SC ona dual 2gig G5 running 10.3.9 with DP4.6.

Everytime I install from the DVD I get a installation error - please reinstall. Even after downloading and installing the updates I get the same thing.

Getting a bit frustrating...any ideas anyone?

Same problem here. I'm on a Mac DP G5 2.7, with OS 10.4.2, running Logic Pro 7. I had to reformat my hard drive due to system corruption. Now when I try re-installing Symphonic Choirs, I get this error when attempting to run the program: "Application installation error. Please reinstall Symphonic Choirs." I have downloaded all the latest updaters, and have reinstalled from scratch (including reinstall of the entire data library).

Will report this to techsupport at east/west. Very frustrating, as I can't use the product.

Hi guys, I had the same problem this w-end. Very frustrating. Turns out that if you do a 'custom' install first time round, the installer fails to install all the correct files.
Unfortunately just starting again and doing an easy (full) install won't work unless you delete ALL files pertaining to EWSQ (except nki files). That crucially includes the EWSQ .plist files in your library/preferences folder ( check both your main system library and your users library) and the au files in your library/audio/plug-ins/components (or vst if u use those)
If you're using DP and have already run it you'll need to trash the 'audio unit info cache' file too (in prefs), to force DP to re-examine the plug.
BTW I'm sure you've already realised that you don't need to totally reinstall ALL the data files. Just rename the folder containing your already installed .nki files and reinstall to a new folder - then copy the .nki files ( 3-26 only required) across.

I worked this out by trial and error when I had a lot of work to do so I'm a bit miffed that glaring bug hasn't been fixed yet. Doing a custom install using RA or EWQLSO works fine so why should we expect otherwise with EWSQ?

Hope this helps anyway,

Croftish

Thanks Crotfish,

I had unwittingly stepped in it myself here 9 months later than you guys when I dared to attempt a custom install.

I didn't find an EWSQ .plist preference file but I did find a Symphonic Choirs.plist.

So as you did, I trashed the straggler files and reinstalled. I even tried to get tricky and back out of the 1st installer DVD when it started wanting to re-install library samples, but that was dumb and I ended up having to start all over and let the 1st DVD complete it's entire routine.

It's installed fine now.

Wish I wouldn't have had to have wasted the time getting here though.

Hmmmm. maybe a big glaring announcement has been made by now about this major problem and I just missed it??

In that FAQ, it is just listed as a problem for Macs.

I have the same problem on a PC, running WinXP SP2.

I cannot start Symphonic Choirs, neither standalone or as a plugin (in Sonar 4.04), without getting the error message mentioned in this thread, and no SC.

Indeed it is!

I will add another entry for the PC. The PC fix is easier, just uninstall using add/remove programs, then run the installer from the disc without unchecking any boxes.
