Has MySpace proved a useful resource for getting work?
I'm slightly nervous about putting my tracks up on there at the moment - (looking at the thread about websites being hijacked is pretty scary!)
Thanks!

It can be I think. I got a job out of it... A producer was searching for music for a series of viral internet adverts on myspace and came across my music and I sold a track to him. However, that is the only work i've gotten out of Myspace. I'm sure there are better ways to go about it rather than just sitting around waiting for someone to check your music out (this is pretty much my method). Like adding film makers and the likes of... In fact, that's a good idea. Why didn't I think of this sooner? lol.

The only reason I don't like myspace and the like is that you put yourself into the race along with another 3,000,000 people (although myspace must have many more than that). I can't see the point in trying to distinguish yourself, by entering a pool with so many other like minded people...

...Oh and as for people stealing your music off Myspace, I don't think you have anything to be afraid of. The quality is so terrible on that site that even if people did get access to your account/music they couldn't do anything with it because it would be unusable.

Where's a page to post your songs on besides myspace? In the music cafe I see you guys all have some type of web page with your name assigned to it and there's a player in the center (with nothing else), so where do I go to look for something like that?
Thanks for any help.

reverbnation.com is a good place to host your songs and they have a player that you can post to other websites, blogs etc. They are more pop/rock/rap orientated in their promotions, but the hosting of songs is free, so I use it for that purpose. I have 2 accounts with them so I can have 2 different players, one for my film/classical stuff and one for my rock/pop stuff. And the neat thing about it is any changes I make to the players on their site is automatically reflected globally to all of the other players posted to websites, blobs, etc. Check it out on my homepage below.

Myspace is mostly good for networking. Very few jobs can be gotten out of it. Myspace has put up a new player, as a precursor to their service of you selling your music there. The player is still buggy.
As Allan said it is good if you have fans.

Cool. Thanks, I'll check it out.

I was wondering myself if it was a good place to post songs up for this forum or not. It's just that a few guys on this forum seemed to complain about the sound quality of that site, which, if you want the truth, I never really seemed to notice. Not that they're wrong or anything.
