Did you look @ the chart on page 80 of the manual ? also the Y in "why" is pronounced more like an I ;)

From a purely linguistic perspective, the long "I" in "Why" is actually a diphthong of "ah" and "ee". "Ah" being the held sound, and "ee" being the closing sound that comes just at the end of the "I" vowel.
As for "Y" by itself, it's often pronounced independently as "ee" and "uh". In the case of "You", it would be pronounced "ee" and "oo". However, it might help to add a bit of an "uh" sound to the opening "ee" to make it sound more natural. In the case of "Yes", it would be pronounced "ee", then "eh", then "ss".
In all cases, the key to the "Y" sound is in the transition from the opening "ee" sound to the following sound. It is a unique sound in that it gets its character primarily from the slurring of the opening "ee" to the following sound. It might help to experimenting with slurring and crossfading to get the most realistic sound.
One other note. Unlike the long "I" sound (as mentioned above), in the words "you" and "yes", the opening "ee" sound is the short sound in the diphthong, and the second sound is the sustained sound. For example, in the word "you", the opening "ee" is short and the "oo" is the sustained sound.
Hope this helps,
Matt
