Hello everybody!

I'm about to order the EW/QL Bundle 1 since i've tried all the bundled products already and find them absolutely indispensable in my studio.

However, I went to see a demonstration of Symphonic Choirs at my local music store and they told me that the recommended System Requirements were set too low.
They claimed that with "only" 2GB RAM you won't even be able to load the largest multis.
Is this true?

If it is, I was thinking of purchasing two more 1024MB sticks so I'll end up with 4GB RAM. (Actually slightly less since I have an ASUS A8V motherboard)
Will Cubase SX 3.1 be able to handle that?
I remember reading somewhere that Cubase 3.0 couldn't use all the installed memory anyway.

Thanks for reading this,

Te Deum

My system:
Windows XP Pro SP2
ASU A8V Deluxe
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (Venice)
2GB Corsair XMS
WD 160GB, Maxtor 250GB
Hoontech (staudio) DSP24

I don't know about Cubase, but I have no problem using Sonar, Choirs and my 2 GB of RAM.
I can usually get about 3 instances of choirs using the full choral multis running (close, full, surround usually) before my processor takes a dive and can't handle it anymore (P4 3.2g) - at which point I've got to freeze the tracks (bounce to wave) before I can move on to something else.
In other words - the guys at the music store may be overreacting a teensey bit.

Thanx for the fast reply.

That's good news. I doubt it that the memory handling can be that different between Cubase and Sonar.

I thought of something, though. Do you use dfd? Does that make a huge difference?

I agree with debiani, I have no problems using 2GB RAM and standard SATA drives. I can load the full kontakt multis and a large string section without having to render.I also use Sonar but think there is no difference in the managing of memory.

Yes, DFD is life. Love the DFD. Embrace the DFD.

I went back to the store today and asked the same question again and also told them about the post I made here.
It turns out that there was simply a misunderstanding. Either it was me misunderstanding them or the other way around. They too confirmed that 2gb is enough for normal use.

To Doug: It was a store in Stockholm, Sweden. Normally they are very professional and they were in fact the people who got me interested in EW products in the first place.

So, everything is cool. Gonna order the bundle very soon :)

Thanks again!
