View Full Version : PLAY success stories on MAC
I'm an original Gold user and really tempted right now to upgrade to Platinum complete with the current promotion offer.
But all the problems about memory usage (in comparison to Kompakt instruments) and various other problems make me hesitate.
I'm using a dual G5 2.0 Ghz with 4 gigs of RAM and Nuendo 3.2.
Can somebody, anybody report a success story (with a similarly specced system) using PLAY?
Thanks for any info.

I find that PLAY on my Powermac G5 2.5 quad 10GB RAM, 4 Hard Disks, is a bit disappointing and I get much better polyphony from using the original Kompakt version of EWQLSO. PLAY is optimised for Mac Pros, so personally I've gone back to using Kompakt until I upgrade my computer.

Thanks Jay, I already found this thread actually. But most (almost all) setups posted there are MAC Pros, typically 8 core. I'm trying to find out if I can get decent polyphony with my specific setup.
So any more comments are appreciated :)
OK, the free shipping on top of the now reduced upgrade price plus 40% off finally convinced me: I just ordered SO Platinum complete :)
I guess I will have half a year or so to get familiar with Play, by which time Snow Leopard and the third party apps (in my case Nuendo) hopefully caught up. Since Snow Leopard won't be supporting my G5 anymore I will have to upgrade my computer sooner than planned anyway. So it's all good, regradless of any memory problems I will encounter the next couple of months
