I'm a EWQLSO Gold user now. I am upgrading to Platinum Plus Play.
I currently use Gold with 2 computers. One is a Mac that runs either Logic or DP and hosts SO through Kontakt 3 as a plugin. The other is a slave PC running Kontakt 3 in standalone mode. I send the MIDI from the Mac to the PC via M-Audio Midisport and then send the audio from the PC back to the Mac via ADAT optical.
In order to take full advantage of the extended memory capabilities of the PC running Play, I'm planning to "upgrade" its OS from XP to either XP 64-bit or Vista 64-bit. The audio interface on the PC is a MOTU 828 MKII which does have support for both 64-bit OSs.
For those of you running a 64-bit PC OS, which are you using and why? How is it working with Play?
For anyone here at EastWest, do you suggest XP 64 or Vista 64 for Play?

I would recommend Vista 64. Although XP's shelf life has been extended by Microsoft, Vista really isn't that bad with SP1 either and Vista support should continue well into Windows 7 release. Most hardware and software companies already have working Vista drivers so you should be able to work fine with your DAWs.

I have Vista 64. 8 gb ram. I'm still using a 32 Bit sequencer (FL studio 8). But I'm able to access nearly 4 gigs of ram through it. And yeah I'd go Vista x64...and then migrate over to Windows 7.

Vista 64 SP1 running SONAR x64 8.0.2 with Play 64
Working very nicely, even when I'm using more than 12GB of RAM (those QL Pianos really take up some space)
I wouldn't go XP64 as it's not supported by cakewalk, and it's a technological dead end, which means in the future you will have trouble getting updated drivers.

Good point. Vista 64 makes more sense for that reason. Thanks.
I have a system running XP64 and don't have any driver issues.

MS has extended XP AGAIN. There is something behind their extension, which should tell you something.
Vista, isn't doing as well as hoped. While SP1 might help things along, XP is still running as strong as Vista.
Vista is Windows ME really.
Windows 7, will be the OS to go to, IMO.

I am using XP64 with Sonar 7. I have not had any driver issues either. I totally agree with Lex about Vista. Just as many people remain using XP because of Vista's serious initial issues and it's bad reputation. Vista is also somewhat of a memory hog as well.
Windows 7 was originally planned as the successor to Windows XP and Windows Server 2003. Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer confirmed compatibility between Vista and Windows 7. Ballmer also confirmed the relationship between Vista and Windows 7, indicating that Windows 7 will be an improved version of Vista.

I know you didn't mean it, but you just named Ballmer as a deity! Ouch!
