Hey everyone, quick question.

Has anyone had any trouble using ipmidi with PLAY? Particularly in Vista 64, but any case would help to know. I've been using LoopBe30, made by the same company, and had some problems (caused PLAY to crash often). I'm moving to a 2 computer setup and wondering if ipmidi or midioverlan would be better (ipmidi is better deal price-wise).

Anyone had stability problems with either? Thanks.

I use MidiOverLan and it works very well. A friend of mine tried ipMidi and had problems. Then got MidiOverLan and it worked for him.

This is going to sound stupid... but I didn't know FX-teleport could fulfill that function.

Thanks Allan... I don't think I've heard of anyone ever having trouble with MOL.

iP Midi is good but really cant compete with the years of coding and research and development that went into MOL.

For me, FX-Teleport was a better choice because in addition to MIDI it also transmits AUDIO thus, I don't need to have an audio card in the SERVER computers. Also, as I understand it, MoL makes you pay for more MIDI channels (with a MAX of 64) AND/OR for extra servers whereas FX-Teleport makes you pay for each SERVER and is not limited to 64 midi channels.

It all depends on what your personal requirements and needs are.

Here, just ordered new build parts (new year = new machine :D)

Q9650, P5Q, vista x64, 8GB ram, 4 x velociraptors, motu mk3 ultralite etc.

After this, MOL is my next 'target' :)

So when's FX-Teleport coming out with a Mac version...? Or at least one that can be used in a 'Mac-PC' setup.....

Never, is my guess. I think that if VSL opens up to 3rd party VSTi hosting, FX-Teleport will probably have very little reason to exist any more.

MidiOverLan is not limited to 64 midi channels. It is 64 midi PORTS, 16 midi channels per port = 1024 midi channels. More than enough to control eight heavily loaded slave computers.
