I have problems with installing the new Play Update (Windows, 32bit).
I was able to install the pace drivers but if I want to install the play update it shows me this error message:
"Error 1721: There is a problem with this windows installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor"
Anyone knows what to do?
I have these Play products:
SD 2 (the only one, that runs at the moment)
Gypsy when I try to open these five libs it tells me: "The installed version of
Fab Four this product (65588) is not compatible with this version of play (65592)"
EWQL Pianos
MoR
VoP

Try something that worked for one of forum user:
"When installing, by default certain things are selected to install.
I had to make sure the "PACE 32 bit drivers" option was disable or set to "Entire feature will be unavailable. Weird, dont know why but thats what worked for me."
You'll probably have to install PACE iLok drivers manually then.
They are included in the update archive.

Thank you Piotr for the reply... but this solves only the half of the problem.
I have to do indeed the same thing if I want to install my Play-Libraries normally.
In addition to that I have also to install the library manually, it doesnt install it if I choose the "typical" installation tool.
It's a strange thing:
I can install MoR, VoP, Fab Four and Gypsy and they run as they should. But if I decide then to install SD 2 these four libraries can't be opened anymore. ("The installed version of this product (65588) is not compatible with this version of play (65592)")
So, I must install this update first:http://www.soundsonline.com/updates.php (PLAY Software Update v1.1.6 / Windows 32-bit)
But the the problem begins: everytime I try to install the update it shows me the "Error 1721" and the installation wizzard closes itself.
All these troubles started when I decided 3 weeks ago to upgrade my PC to Vista 64bit. But with the 64-System I had problems over problems (The installed play-libraries didnt appear under "favourites" in the browser and If I tried to load an instrument, the play engine crashed down: "play.exe does not work anymore")... so I went back to 32-bit Vista, but this time I updated the system to "ultimate", and that's now the point where I can't install the Play-Update.
Any other ideas? (sorry for the bad english, it's allready difficult to me to explain these technical things in german... in english it's nearly impossible;)
Thanks, Raphael

I don't have Vista, so I only can help with what I can read in the support section. Here's another idea:
*Note: You must temporarily turn off "User Access Control" on Vista prior to installing. To do this go to your control panel and open "User Accounts and Family Safety", then click again on "User Accounts", then lastly click on "Turn User Account Control on or off" and set it to off. Then re-boot your computer.
From the FAQ. Did you take care of this one?

Raphael, I had a similar error message (incompatibility with different Play versions). Try uninstalling the Play software (whichever version you have), reboot, and then reinstall the latest version (1.1.6), reboot, and then you should be ok.

After many days and hours of clicking me through buttons, installing programs and rebuilding PC-systems, I solved now the Problem... Now I have time to celebrate christmas:D
Thank you all for your help, some advices worked for me!
I tried out so many things that it's difficult to say which changes helped and which not. However, what I can say is that it was a mixture of conflicts.
-First I had to rebuild the whole system (now I'm using Vista 32 ultimate again)
- One point that helped, of course, was this "User Controll" thing
- The "Read Me" file of the update tells you to install the pace drivers first. But in my case it was exactly the wrong way.
When I decided to ignore the instructions and not to install the pace drivers first, the error message 1721 didn't appear anymore and I could run the update.
- Two libraries didn't appear in the "favorites" folder in the play browser. (Fab Four and QL Pianos). There I had to reinstall everything, also the library itself - allthough these datas were already on my hard disc.
- And finely there was that problem of the succession of installing these six play libraries plus update.
First I had to install VoP. (If I tried to install SD2 first, no other library was usable because of "Play.exe does not work anymore".
After VoP I had to install Fab Four or Gypsy, then SD2, followed by MoR. The last thing I installed then were the Pianos and the updates.
Thanks again for your support
