Hi everyone!

This piece was 100% made with Silver Edition, composed with Fruity Loops. I tried to use most of the instruments, and different variations in order to explore a range of possibilities (still a lot to be discovered).

Here's another track I put together using Gold. It showcases the bassoon which is personally one of my favorite instruments. Used sordino violins and non-vib strings. Kind of has a placid, meditative vibe to this piece. Also uses harp and glockenspiel prominantly.

I used woodwinds and harp from Silver, all the other sounds are from Gold.

Hi everyone - this is the FIRST time I've ever put my music on the internet, so I'm absolutely paranoid! Here then, for your consideration is my entry for your Best Demo Contest: it was done on a Pentium 3 laptop with 1Gb RAM using Cubase 5, Gold Symphonic Orchestra only (used with Kontakt), with a reverb added by Cubase and normalised via Creative Wavestudio. As far as I know, processing was allowed. That's it. Hope you like it, even better, hope you love it... Feedback most welcome (separate thread created). Here's the link for downloading:

http://www.funender.com/music/download.php?band_id=5084&song_id=17412&mode=song_hifi

(Only use this if you have a downloading program like flashget, get right etc. Otherwise go to the mini site below and you'll see the track!).

My mini site:

What's it all about? This is a theme for a treasure quest in the searing heat of the desert, where four college kids use a map to discover a great and powerful artifact.

Enjoy!

This is my first post, ever, on anything, hope it turns out correctly!?! I composed this with Silver, very cinamatic... well, kinda, I guess. I love the up and down bowings, the tremolo's, the brass, everything sounds so real! I work completely non-profit and had to scrape to get the Silver, so to have a possibility to win a Gold would be a tremedous blessing, by the way, you all have posted some outstanding demo's, I find it a joy to have one of mine posted with some truly great composer's, Mr. Rogers and Mr. Phoenix, I love your products, I've checked out the others also, but had to go with what is not only the best sounding, but also was cost efficiant for the work I do, keep up the great work!

I wanted to send you a private message by email not to charge this thread but it is disabled on your account....
So, you have to upload your track on a server, somewhere if you have a personnal server, or use a service like soundclick (do a goolge research).
Once it is uploaded, you popst a link here that looks like:

or so.... Hope you can do it.

Thanks to AMO for your help it was invaluable.

Once again this piece was created with the Silver Edition. Played with Eqing, defferent reverbs, mixing techniques and was able to change various sounds to make them sound even more realistic.

This product is used for total non profit purposes and has been invaluable to the work that I am doing.

Here is another entry. This is Balls to the Wall Battle Scene material. I think I am going to re-mix though...later. I wasn't happy with the trumpet sounds in this piece. I think that it is more of a compositional flaw than a "sound" flaw. Any suggestions are welcome.

Here is a piece done with EWQLSO-Platinum, StormDrum and Altered States.

There was no FX, processing, compression, EQ etc.
Normally I would, but I wanted to do an example of
using these products straight out of the box.
There was a bit of level mixing with automation.

Here's one last one that I wrote using Silver last summer. It's got a little schizoid quality to it as it begins with a pointillistic section for mostly winds and then moves into a Saving Private Ryan styled brass chorale.

Totally and solely EWQLSO/Gold (in Cubase SX):

"Poem di Tono Senza Titolo (http://www.KevinTweedy.net/EW/0515_UNTITLED_PREVIEW.mp3)".

WARNING: "This ain't your momma's rehashed Tchaikovsky!"

This long piece (6+ minutes) started as yet another exercise in polytonal abstractionism. Individual string sections (first violins, second violins, violas, cellos, double basses) struggle with various quasi-related themes for dominance, with “commentary” by an English Horn, orchestral bells, harp and vibraphone along the way. The energy for the “dispute” runs out around 3:40 and a peace-making solo violin enters the fray to calm the waters, leading a now harmonious strings section (with basic doubling with a brass choir and contra bassoon for bottom oomph). Joined by timpani, gong (and continuing commentary by the harp and vibraphone), they continue to a resolution of sorts. (Stay tuned for "Episode II: The Revenge of the Violas"!) (“Poem di Tono Senza Titolo” translates from Italian to English as “Untitled Tone Poem” although I initially wanted to call the piece “Finding My Own Voice”).

The first movement of my original score for the silent film Nosferatu. Currently in short score form, it is for solo piano, as played by the Bosendorfer sound library. 38 minutes in length, the video file is DivX encoded (and at low quality, to allow for viewability without too much downloading overhead):

http://web.mit.edu/mrmiller/www/Nosferatu.avi

And for the audio purists...
http://web.mit.edu/mrmiller/www/Nosferatu.mp3

The 38 minute first movement is comprised of 11 "songs":

I. Title Sequence - A Folk Tune
II. Renfield's Assignment
III. Harker's Farewell
IV. From Relay to Relay
V. The Book of the Vampires
VI. The Arrival
VII. First Blood
VIII. Letter Home
IX. Somnambulistic
X. The Coffin
XI. Escape from the Castle

I regret that I have not composed these two pieces. I am just a humble metacomposer because my Synestesia Software has generated the pieces (a midi file) in 5 seconds from pictures. My part was to select the nice EWQL samples for playing these pieces.

The first piece was generated from the cover of the book FORMALIZED MUSIC by Iannis Xenakis. The cover is based on a drawing that Xenakis used to generate his piece Mycenae Alpha by the help of his UPIC system. I guess the generation took hours and hours. You can buy his piece on a record. It is not one of his best.

You can find both pictures (metacores) on my web site if you like.

Thought I'd throw in something a little different just for fun - Stormdrum samples only.

Here's another really uplifting track. It has technical passages in the beginning, and has a huge bold sound in the end. Trust me, you'll like this.

Here's one last one that I wrote using Silver last summer. It's got a little schizoid quality to it as it begins with a pointillistic section for mostly winds and then moves into a Saving Private Ryan styled brass chorale.

That brass chorale you have there is very well written - "spot on", as they say. Nice going!

Took a quick browse and I think it's around 77? Could be off as my mind wandered while I was listening to some of the demos posted in other threads, but I think it's close to that give or take 10, counting some peoples multiple submissions.
