View Full Version : Somewhere to host my music

Hi there,

Can anyone recommend a website where I can host my music files - for free? I have webspace with the my but the bandwidth is so ridiculously low that a handful of people listening to my last piece caused the site to be taken down! I have tried vitaminic but nothing seems to be happending there.

I'd love to get more feedback on my music, and enter these monthly competitions. I plan on buying some hosting space later this year but can't until the autumn. Any suggestions of what to do in the meantime?

Thanks,
Wayne

You might also like to try

http://music.download.com

Down towards the bottom of the home page is a link for "Artists: Upload your music" and you register there.

With this site you get 50Mb of space for .mp3 files (must be 192Kbps sampled).

Hope that helps.

Hi everyone - I'm new here and this is my first post! In the same boat as Wayne, I've been looking for a free mp3 host myself and have found this one where I'll be putting my competition entry soon. It's at funender.com and it's very easy to set up. They give you 15Mb of space for free and if you need more you have to pay a bit. Here's the link:

http://www.funender.com/phpBB2/affiliate.inc.php?myaffid=14485

When you get there, click on funender.com MP3 music hosting and it will give you the packages available. Click on register near the top to set up your account.

People who visit your site can either download or stream music from the site without joining anything! Not bad at all.

Hope this helps you all!

Hi there,

Thanks for the replies. I have also done some digging and found somewhere that will provide 100MB of hosted web space, plus 3GB a month bandwidth - free!

http://www.100webspace.com

I have registered an account there and will be putting a website together soon!

Take care,
Wayne

http://www.soundclick.com/ is free and most importantly it doesn't force a proprietary player window
like most of the others do.
I don't open an acid planet post because of the annoying player setup.

Wayne, on the site there is the comment that there is a file download limit (around 500K). Not sure if this is true, but you might want to try downloading a large .mp3. The terms and conditions make reference to the service not being for 3rd party file transfer, so check this out too.

All the best,
Ian

Thanks for the heads-up Ian. I haven't used it yet and did not look closely at the terms so you could be right. It did seem to good to be true!

ok, it's not exactly free, but at $5.95 a month, it's kinda close.

And you get a custom looking website which you can update as often as you like. They have a player (which I don't like), but it's easy to set it up so that the link plays in your browser.

That is true, pop up players are kinda annoying, but don't you have to sign up to listen to songs from soundclick? I'm pretty sure it was this site and I've known of quite of few people who wouldn't listen to songs because they didn't want to have to sign up for anything.

It's not me, I don't care. I've just heard complaints about it from several people before.
