View Full Version : RAM problem on Multis?

When I load some of the 'Multis' (e.g. basses) I get the following error:
"ERROR: could not load sample (no big enough memory block avail)
FBASSah.m47.wav
Continue Loading"
And this continues for 40-50 files.
I run a PC with just over 2Gb of RAM so I'm surprised that I get this. Am I missing something?

Kevin, It can be the DFD settings.

Thanks for your reply. After I posted my thread I wondered about DFD and thought to myself on the website (prior SC purchase) that DFD was required and I have no idea whether this is something that I have installed, is installed automatically or I have to do separately afterwards. Basically I think I've dropped the ball on this one.
How do I check my DFD settings? Or, indeed, whether DFD is there at all?

Kevin,
I refer you to the Tech Support Forum Page. There are several updates posted by Doug for the kompakt player, which includes the latest version of DFD and also for the SC multis.
I upgraded time ago and have no problems with memory (2G).
But still if you keep having problems you can allways reduce the amount of physical memory you want to use, going into the "expert" mode and modifying the buffers size or the voices. Anyhow I advice you the "normal" settings unless you have special conditions of memory CPU or harddisk.
Hope It helps

Luis,
Many thanks for your response. I'll try as you suggest, and I am sure this will solve the problem. The problem is bound to be more around my lack of knowledge rather than anything else.
