After working for a whole day to get WB and SC to work with Logic, and trying for two more days (!) to get WB to render the text "a-men" (with little successs), I am giving up for the moment. i appreciate the help I have gotten on this board and from EW staff, but SC is just too difficult right now. I can't make a lifestyle of learning it.
I have the EWQLSO Platinum edition, and it is a real delight to use and to hear. Absolutely no problems, or at least none that I can't solve with relatively little effort.
Symphonic Choirs is another ball of wax. Brilliantly ambitious concept, but if it is *this* difficult to use, and so many competent and experienced people are having problems with it, I wonder if East West should have waited until it was a little further developed before releasing it to the user public. I feel like I'm using Beta-version software that I paid full price for.
What I wonder is who did the amazing SC demos that are on the EW website and how in the hell did they do them. I stand in awe. They must know something I don't know about how to program words in
EW.
I'll come back to this software later, but my stress level is overloaded at the moment. Maybe choral vocalises thrown in here and there, but setting intelligible text is just too overwhelming right now.

Hi Bill
Well all the demos have the names of the creators on them and if you notice a fair few of them are from Nick Phoenix who is AFAIK a logic user too .
I am a SX user on PC and have a problem with a word myself but I think I need more practice with WB rather than it is not working
And yes WB is stressing me out too and I havn't touched it for a week so I can relate to your
post here ;)

Hello Guys !
I finally figure out how to resolve my problems !
I say a Big "thank you", to the newest Demo for SC, which gave me the desire to don't forgive too quick with WB, and Magpie for the advices !!
Talking about that, you were right Magpie, it was a layer problem. ;)
the "a" in the word "PraES" (price) is at 150ms by default setting when you tip it, the trick is to put it at 25ms and it's working !
My conclusion for now is, it seems that the settings for the syllables sounds different when you play them on a keyboard by yourself and when its play thru the sequencer.
So my advice for the others who have the problem as me is to do all the settings by enter some notes in the sequencer and play them each time you want to ear how it sounds !
By the way, I'm convince that symphonic is a great software, but agree when some people are saying it looks like a Beta Version...
For exemple, I resolved a problem during the night, but 2 minutes after, I found another one: Each time I want to recall my settings in WB, I have an error message which is saying "there is an internal error and I must close WB"
Oh great, I think WB is gonna be a long adventure ;)

Exactly !! , because when you you play them you are adding the human element and playing
the words how you want them to sound but the sequencer is unforgiving untill you teach it what it needs to do .
Glad it is improving for you now Ikary :D

Bill,
What format are you using MAC or PC? If you are using MAC the next update resolves some issues that have already been fixed in the latest PC update, and might help you because it also includes a menu of latin phrases that you can load instantly. We know that not everyone is a good 'wordbuilder', it requires some learning to get good at it, so this should help you to get instant results.
Also, did you watch the video tutorials online?
We use this product a lot, and it works great, as you can see in the video tutorials which were all filmed live.

I'm on MAC, so I look forward to the update.

Indeed I did. In fact, watching them convinced me to buy SC. The tutorials are a knockout and make it look SOOOO easy, but then they are done by an expert, so I have a ways to go.
Now I know this is revolutionary software, and my recent negative post was written after a whole weekend of struggling and ultimately despairing that I would ever be able to get words to come out in WB. Another irony for me is that I have studied linguistics and phonetics, but that didn't seem to help. Ready-made Latin phrases would be fantastic. I'll write a Mass--or at least an Amen chorus or two.

Hey, Bill, there's two of us, then!
I wonder if any more linguists are lurking somewhere in the shadows of soundsonline-forums.com :)
Best,

I can absolutely relate to some of the frustrations of Bill but, once you get over the first big hurdle and some of the usability issues click into place, the package is absolutely amazing. I am neither a linguist nor a PC guru and just do this for fun, so I'm convinced that once the MAC update comes out then you'll be off and running.
Stick with it - it will be worth it.
