View Full Version : How to get a pronounced 'l' sound?

Hi folks - I thought I'd ask this again as I'm still no nearer
I've got the boys multi loaded and for the life of me I cannot produce a pronounced 'l' sound
I've tried dialing up the volume on 'l' to no effect at all
I've tried setting the consonants volume for the voice at its highest setting
(INCIDENTALLY MY PITCHED CONSONANTS VOLUME ALWAYS RESETS ITSELF TO THE MID POINT SO I CAN NEVER GET IT HIGHER THAN THIS)
I've tried having 'l' on a separate note, but still no joy
I know you're all pros and that my humble fumblings must be a bit of a joke, but I'd really love to get this baby going!
Thanks a lot for taking the time

BTW is it a single I or an I in a word ?

It's an 'l' in a word...try lord, lose, loss...anything....in fact I don't think you can have 'l' not in a word cos I've tried breaking it out on its own in an effort to get it sounding.
The word I'm actually after is close...the k sounds great as an unpitched consonnant out on its own..but the 'l' cannot be separated...and has no emphasis...and I'm sure it's because I cannot get the pitched consonnant slider to move up and stay up in the vst wordbuilder under cubase 3.1
I'm going to see if I can get set up with choirs as a standalone...because I can see that the slider stays in place if wordbuilder is in standalone not vst...
Thank you...I'd love to know whether your pitched consonnant slider stays in place after you've hit 'ok' in vst/cubase 3 ... or does it keep resetting like mine?

yes this happens for me too in SX 2.2
I just noticed its an L you are after I thought it was an I as in ICE :o

Looks like it's a bug - I'll email Sean...and in the meantime I'll see if I can get midiyoke and standalones to work!

I tried some words with l and the sound OK'ish by default without further editing , the l seems to be working but I'm not sure what you wan't when you want it "a pronounced 'l' sound"
have you tried using the add velocity function for the l ?

...perhaps it's just me!
Thanks Magpie - I really appreciate your help.

Found a solution?
Maybe a stupid question, but did you make sure that the selected choir in the WordBuilder settings matched the one loaded in Kompakt (e.g. boys -> boys)?

Yes - the Choir is right....it's just not possible to isolate the 'l', as you can an s or a k because it's only available as a pitched consonnant.
