View Full Version : Can 2 for 1 deal be split with someone?

Can two people combine to do the two for one deal, each getting an item for half price? Or is it only valid for one person to get and register the two-for-one products?

Awesome deal btw, I'm not complaining, just seeking clarity.

Thanks!
Jim

Legally no. The terms mentions the product is for the purchaser/end user only, or he/she whom clicks the agree to terms radio button.

I don't agree. Legally there always has to be a distinction between the buyer/purchaser and the owner/end user of the product. Otherwise, no one could ever buy buy a software product and give it as a gift to someone.

I am sure EastWest intends the promotion to be for one person, but one person could probably legally buy the product, receive the promotion, then give then second product as a gift to someone else. As another example, a parent could probably legally buy a product, receive the free product, then give one product each to their kids.

Agree or not I believe Allan is correct. However, I suggest that it's best to contact Jonathan Kranz (jkranz@eastwestsounds.com) for any ruling regarding gift giving. I've been down this road before, Jonathan has been most helpful, and he can tell you what the current promotion allows or doesn't allow. I suspect that you could give both items to someone as a gift, but you can't split the order between two people. You certainly couldn't do it with the Complete Composers Collection last year for example. In any case, as I say, I'd suggest sending a note to Jonathan rather than relying on forum members for the 'correct' answer on this one. :)

Legally, gift giving is allowed. At least in the USA. :D If you buy the sw and open, install and register it, then it's yours. But if you give a sealed box to someone else, they open install and register it on their own, that is perfectly fine. And if that person wants to not make it a gift and give you money, that's your business, not EW's.

"The terms mentions the product is for the purchaser/end user only,"

It may say that, but that does not prohibit you from giving a sealed box to someone else to register on their own.

Cheers.

By going through checkout you agree to license terms, which state, that only original purchaser can use the software. This is more important during 2 for 1 promotions and with bundles, that just cannot be split among different users.

Jonathan is definitively the guy, you want to ask about it, if you need a confirmation from EW/Soundsonline staff.

You can keep both products, or give both products to another person as a gift, but whoever authorizes the first product must also authorize the second product to the same iLok account.

Here is the rebate form I found at GuitarCenter.com (under their EastWest MOR listing):

Assuming you paid the GC listed price of $355.50, your choices for a free product of "equal or lesser value" would be:
-- Fab Four
-- Gypsy
-- RA
-- Stormdrum 2
-- Voices of Passion
--- EWQL Pianos -- Gold Edition

You can perform a search at SoundOnline then order it by descending price:
