Live and virtual

Hello David,

First of all, thank you for being here with us for a while!
My question is related to mixing live and virtual instruments according to your view. How much is it a prestige issue to use mostly live musicians when scoring big budget movies? (of course apart from synth and other digital sounds) Do producers/directors take the "traditional approache" self-evident? (I guess it is not always the same, but maybe there is a tendency you could point at...)
To what extend do you mix VIs in the final versions of your scores?

Live musicians are always better, synths are great for unique tonal colors, we use quite a bit of synths in the final versions. It's all about what the music calls for.
