Hello David, it's great to see you here in our forum. :)

For me the greatest thing about filmmusic is that it works subconscious and that the people in the theaters notice that
there was, for example, a really moving scene, a scary one or maybe a heroic one, but the most of them just remember
the scene as a whole. But when I watch one of these scenes in a movie I also notice the music and how it reacts with the
pictures, it fulfills me with humility cause it has such a effect on me and then I think: "Yeah, he or she did it again all with
his or her music." (Of course there're also the actors and the story and so on, but we are talking about music right? :D)

To cut a long story short, do you write your music in the knowledge that you have such a big influence on a scene
and how do you feel to be one of the men behind the curtain who pulls some of the strings, to be one of the magical
guys who will never be noticed by the most of the moviegoers (except your fans like me of course ;)), but who is there
already and can lead the audience in a special direction to make them cry, scream, laugh or to give them a goosebumbs?

Thank you in advance!

Al the best!

Tino

I write for the MOVIE! I don't think about anything else (in reality, you are so stressed about getting the cue approved, in real life, it's hard to care about anything as esoteric as you are positing. ) I never think of the long term effect on an individual watching the movie. It's the MOVIE that has primacy. Always...hope that makes sense. It's a hard lesson to learn - it's not about the music - it's about the Platonic idea of the MOVIE.....
