Greetings.

Mr. Newman, as a professional composer on a field of professional movie-makers, do you still find moments of frustration within this circle? (such as weird directions/demands from the director, leading to a musical-disaster or constant revising back and forth).

Thank You in advance,
- TR

And to extend this such a bit; how do you get through those possible moments?

Of course!!!! The whole thing is weird suggestions, talking around the "thing itself". This is what film scoring is all about. You go Longitudinal...vertical. it's almost impossible to discuss. When a director tries to "talk music" it is usually a disaster. Try to talk " literature"...acting, structure (script structure--Act 1, 2, 3 etc.....) try to gear the talk to his or her "ball park"
