Mistakes, chances and excess of music

Thank you for your time. I would like to ask you two questions:

- How important are mistakes in your composing process?

- How much of your work do you erase at the end, so the resulting music is clear?

I don't tend to edit too much except in process. At the end, I don't tend to fix things. I fix as I go and find that mostly that works better. But it's a personality thing. Some people like to get everything out and then go back and edit. I like to edit as I go.
