Grand Central Dispatch / 64-Bit! Yes, I think I will pre-order!

Just what my new MacPro "Nehalem" needs with Logic9.

It will be interesting to see how Grand Central improve Logic 9's multicore handling on the 8 core macs - also I hope a logic 9.1 update follows that might finally bring a 64 bit DAW to the mac (now that OS X is truly 64 bit!)

Definitely exciting times for mac users

I am really surprised at the snail like speed developers have embraced 64-bit technology in every OS such as Mac OS, Windows and Linux (although I believe Linux was one of the first).

Sounds awesome! So all I need now is an 8-core Mac Pro which starts at $4600 here in Denmark - oh and $29 for the OS! :D

Thomas.

Well for $28, I wouldn't mind preordering but for $29 I will have to wait and get in line after Thomas to get a Mac Pro...

So, what are the implications of this really? As far as I can tell, Logic will need a total rewrite before it enters the 64-bit realm, the AudioUnits format will need a total rewrite, and all AU plug-ins will need a total rewrite too. Just because the OSX is 64-bit, given the inherant 32-bit nature of Logic 8 and 9 it doesn't seem to me to be, on the face of it, a good investment of my time (reinstalling everything). Or have I got this catastrophically wrong?

Also want to know.

A few posters on LogicProHelp.com have stated they are beta testers and have had Logic and SL running fine together.
