I've been starting to put together templates and was wanting to construct a template for quick sketches and idea starters.

That made me think that maybe a thread on how others handle this situation may be enlightening to the group, so here it is:

Do you have a template set up for roughing in your ideas? If so, what instruments/articulations do you use?

I use Platinum but I don't think it matters since there is a lot of overlap in articulations among the versions.

Thanks, looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

ks patches for 18 vlns, vlas, celli, and bases, winds and brass. minimal percusion (timp snare 1 crash and 1 sus cymb at most)

All that can easily be loaded into two instances of kompakt (8 patches/instance) and will give you more than enough for rough sketching.

Anybody else want to share their templates with Platinum XP? Just got the full library and because I don't know all the articulations included with this vast library, I can see I am going to spend a lot of time just getting a session together.

Any suggestions for great sounding & useful templates?

At first I've listened to and played each single articulation and KS-Multis .
Without knowing the sounds it is impossible to create template sessions.

For the case that you run multiple computers , you can simply load all basic articulations
of the instruments ( ... legato , stac , ... ). And voilá: there's your template.

But I run the library on one computer , sometimes two . Therefore I have to make
a choice , which articulations can be loaded.
I'm writing score music , so my approach is focused on more or less stereotype
moods ( ... Romance , Chase , Action ... ).
So I've built different "Romance"-setups , "Action"-setups , etc. , ... and
according to the scene that I score I decide which setup is the best .

Of course building setups takes lots of time , and actually I'm always adding new templates to my
setup-library, when I've found useful setups during a production process.
Meanwhile my workflow is very fast ( ... because of these setups ...) , although I'm working with just one computer.

So ,
enjoy listening to all the articulations !;)

Best regards
