View Full Version : 1. Final Cut Pro and 2. Omnisphere

Good afternoon everyone:

1. I've had a couple of instances where I delivered an aiff type of audio file to a filmmaker for importing into Final Cut Pro, and then Final Cut Pro wouldn't recognize the file type. It would be possible to import the file into Soundtrack Pro and then save it under a different name, and then import that file into Final Cut Pro.

Does anyone else have a similar experience? What's going on here? I'm a PC guy so I am somewhat puzzled - I though aiff was an Apple specific format.

2. Has anyone else had issues trying to run Omnisphere in Sibelius? All I get is this sound: http://www.summeroflovemusic.com/Omnisphere%20test%20score.mp3

Not too impressive ... Omnisphere runs fine in all other programs (Notion, Reaper, Sonar).

Not EW related, I know I know, and I already asked on more specialized forums (Sib chat page and the Spectrasonics support and user group) but I am trying to get my act together for a one day filmmaking contest, all day tomorrow and kicking off in the morning, so time's running out.

Thanks!

Hello Peter ,

FCP sometimes shows some weird behavior concerning the audiofile handling , and actually
the one you've described is a FCP issue that happens with AIF's and WAV's .
You'll find similar posts on the web .
So it's actually not necessarily your fault when this happens .

Next time , give these specific customers your audiofiles in both .aif and .wav format in the requested bit- and samplerate.
( Usually 16bit , 48kHz ...)

Just for example , here's another "magic" one:

This the file you are delivering possibly AIFC? There are derivatives of the AIFF. Check your extensions to verify it is AIFF.

Omnisphere, I'd had some problems generally with either sine buzzes or "no sound" even within Logic. What update are you on?

Thanks Gerd and Jasper.

1. The last time the filmmaker specified 24 bit / 48 khz, so that is what I gave to him. Didn't work in FCP directly though (only after renaming it).
2. File name is aiff allright. Earlier with wav it did work by the way (which is funny since isn't that a windows format?).
3. Omnisphere - just upgraded everything yesterday to the current updates (software version 1.04g, soundsources 1.0.2 and patches 1.0.4).

ps Jasper: missed your screening in Mill Valley this afternoon, unfortunately - hope all went well! Maybe I'll see you tomorrow morning?
