Good evening everyone:
Just got back from the SF Symphony concert, celebrating the opening of the Walt Disney Family Museum.
Wonderful!! Both the music, and the Walt Disney heritage.
Do visit the museum the next time you are in SF - it's in the Presidio, right next to where I live. And call on me while you are in town!

The program was a combination of famous classical music and songs that prominently featured in (and sometimes were made famous by) classic Disney movies. Here's the full program:
Rossini - Overture to William Tell
Tchaikovsky - Waltz from Sleeping Beauty
Hoffman / Livingstn / David - A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes (from Cinderella)
Churchill / Morey (arr. Bishop) - Some Day My Prince Will Come (from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs)
Beethoven - Symphony no. 6
Mussorgsky (arr Rimsky-Korsakov) - A Night on Bald Mountain
Grieg - March of the Dwarfs from Lyric Suite
Sherman / Sherman (arr. Huff) - Feed the Birds (Tuppence a Bag) (Mary Poppins)
Harline / Washington (arr. Bishop) - When You Wish Upon a Star (Pinicchio)
Dukas - The Scorcerer's Apprentice

The most successful composer for Disney who has created the most unforgettable melodies is Alan Menken. He has scored 3 movies (if I'm not wrong) and again, if I'm not wrong, these films were released one after the other:
- The Little Mermaid
- Beauty & the Beast (my favourite! :D)
- Aladdin
I have the original CDs of the above scores :D The final track of the Beauty & the Beast (Transformation) brings tears to my eyes everytime I listen to it. It's sooo beautiful, and the ending with the choir is so emotional, that you feel you want to get up from your seat, approach Alan Menken and give him a big hug!
