Hi,

I can't make the hardanger fiddle sound real, it sounds too synthetic ! I need a good one for a traditionnal Irish music and I think that this one is awful. Or maybe I do wrong ? What is the best to use with RA ? Is there a better way to use it more efficiently ?

Thanks.

Actually this is this violin sound that I want (listen in the end) :

http://www.soundsonline.com/cd_mp3_demos/134605.mp3 (this is from Celtic Giga version)

I can't reproduce this violin sound with the one in RA, if someone have got an idea to help me that would be nice ;)

Have you tried using the F0 keyswitch in the Hardinger KS program?
Alternatively, work out what you want and I may be able to record some real
fiddle for you!

does the F0 correspond to the SPIC RR ?
Yeah I tried every patch of this hardinger but nothing sounds realistic or as I want :(
guy, do you think this hardinger in RA is Ok ? When I'm listening to Altan for example, even if they play on real instrument, we are far from the good sound IMHO...
The best I found is to pan a SPIC RR on the left and a legato on the right, but it's still too much synthetic. This is not really the play that bother me but the sound.

I don't think the problem is with the Hardanger Fiddle in RA - it just produces a different sort of sound from the one you want (possibly because of the extra strings) - it makes more of an 'ethnic' type sound. What you are looking for is a Scots/Irish (Celtic) Fiddle sound - and I don't think you'll get that from a Hardanger.

Yeah i think you're right awpmusic
The first link you gave me sounds good, celtic instrument sounds good, Celtic seems to sound good too. I may choose one of these... do you know which one is the best ?

I use Celtic Instruments from Big Fish Audio - you can get it from Time & Space www.timespace.com/

Both links were supposed to take you to the same library - via different suppiers!

They are probably not multisamples though.

I don't know, it is written : "A huge range of solo riffs and phrases performed in authentic styles by leading Celtic musicians, together with a set of multisamples for most instruments."

Who gets it and can confirm ?

No I mean listen to the demo. I dont think anyone should imagine they are hearing multisamples there.

Try using the solo Violin Hard legato patch in Gold. It's not exact but is probably closer to the sound you are looking for.

I have a Hardanger tune. Check it out and see if it can't sound pretty real. Took some time though! :)
