I wonder in which order you record your music when it comes to a real recording session.

Does it make sense to play all pieces that includes the same themes (e.g. "The Love Theme") one after the other. Or is it better to record a fast action cue between slow movements to keep the orchestra alive?
Or would it be the best to record the music simply in the same order as it appears in the film?

I'm no expert, but in general studio recording (not orchestral, but bands, or small ensembles) the engineer I knew would usually do a few easier tracks first, then move to a harder track, then (assuming you even have TIME to keep recording) end with more easier tracks. But it really depends on what's happening. The artist could be having a killer perfect day, so all the harder tracks would be done to take advantage of that.

But really it depends on the schedule. Generally in a professional situation with a professional orchestra, they should be able to record in any order.
