Hey Guys!

I discovered my passion for the epic music/trailer and have self taught and composing for 2 years.
I am starting college in sound and recording music in 2 month, Yay! so excited to learn cant wait anymore!!!
I have been doing pretty good and i didnt care if it sounded bad until i found my dream!", Well first, my dream consist of being a decent composer, having his own studio, composing for the major movie/games, having an entire orchestra playing your own composition etc etc. Since then i am struggling with my self. i keep giving up an project when it doesnt sound what i expect to. sometime i get frustrated and keep saying my composition is shit even when people find it amazing..., sigh, its like the perfectionism in me is taking over my passion i dont know. its like i am not learning anymore. My creativity my aspiration all went down. i keep expecting for the great result when i should just enjoy the process of learning.
So here is the story of my life, hoping someone who went through similar way can give my some advice or some wise word to put my mind back in the flow of music. YAY :headphones:

Welcome to the forums!

Boy... this sounds very familiar. I'm the exact same way about most of my music. One of my music professors who has my up most respect once told me something very wise: " Don't look at where you are now and think about how much better you should be. Rather, look back at where you were a year or so ago. You'll be amazed at how far you've come" Thinking about it like this has definitely changed my life for the better.

I'm just a year or so ahead of you in this. lol Just keep working at it. You'll get better, and it starts to come even more naturally to you as you get more familiar with composition. A great way to work on it is just sit down on a keyboard and mess around. After a while your fingers will just know where to go to make some really nice compositions with very little effort. :)

Also, it's not a bad thing to give up on a project that's frustrating you to the point that it's no fun anymore. Move on, work on something else for a while. I've found these little "half baked" ideas can be some very good starting points/ideas for later compositions.

Why don't you post some of your music in the listening area? It's a great way to get some advice on it by people who really know what they're doing.

i have read alots of thread and many people refer to the articulation and i couldnt find anywhere what does it means, i have even google it!

For an instrument, an articulation is simply the way you attack the note. Say, for a flute, you can give a sharp short breath, or a long slow flowing breath. Those would be 2 of many possible articulations.

The east west libraries are made up of a bunch of different articulations for each instrument so you can give a realistic performance.
