Yeah, it's a good album. I've been a Depeche fan since around '81, and it's nice to see they're still plugging away...:)

I like the tracks you mentioned, and I also really like "The Darkest Star". That's probably my favourite track on the album.

Yes, really good too!

When can we have a virtual instrument with all Depeche mode's sounds???
Doug?

Hey Neil;

Did you hear the "Simlish" version of Depeche Mode's new single? Link below...

This is definitely their best album in over 10 years. I don't know how much influence Alan Wilder had, but ever since he left and they started using hip, young producers, they've kinda had that grungy electronic sound so popular with other bands of the late-90's and early-00's (the naughties, as I like to call them). Everything sounds too Reaktor based, too jarring and synthetic. The old stuff seemed like smooth analog sounds mixed with interesting samples. (There probably could be a huge collection of all their sampled sounds.)
There are a lot of good songs on this album, but I don't think any sound as "classic" as "Precious."
I did enjoy Diesel Christ's "Diesel Mode '97" album, which seemed kinda thrown together, but had a couple fun cover songs from the not-so-great "Ultra" which made them sound more in line with the "Violator" material. And Robert Enforsen (Elegant Machinery) made a pretty good Gahan substitute.
