Hi there,

I think this was a topic well covered on Northern Sounds, but since the archive is closed I thought I would open the topic here. I am trying to decide which is the best reverb to use with EWQLSO Silver. At the moment I use SIR, usually with a Lexicon PCM91 hall preset. I also have Waves RVerb and Lexicon Pantheon LE to choose from. Whatever I use I cannot seem to get the rich reverb sound I am looking for!!

I know that it will never be quite as good as it's true sound (i.e. gold with the reverb trail samples) but surely it must be possible to come close with the right reverb and send pattern!

So my question is which reverb/IR do Silver users use, and what send levels are used for the different instruments.

For example, I usually use Lexicon PCM 91 Bright hall on SIR 1.008 and have strings on 35% send, wind on 40% send, brass on 45% send and Percussion on 55%-60% send level.

Thanks,
Wayne

Hi Wayne

Well, for what it's worth, here are my settings I use with Silver -

Lexicon 960 Medium Hall setting in SIR - used as a send & return in Cubase
+12 db boost on, no Dry signal, Wet signal @ -7.3 db
use SIR's eq to dip a few dbs @ 265 Hz

The send levels in Cubase tend to be about the same for each section, though slightly more for the brass - say -6db.

But of course this all depends on the project I'm working on. Sometimes I get great results with Ambience reverb.

Sorry I don't have the Lexicon PCM 91

Hope this is useful.

If you don't mind going the impulse response route, try Voxengo Pristine Space. There are a TON of IR's out there, with Lexicon having quite a few representatives. Pristine Space can run at a much lower latency than SIR (256 to 512 samples in Asio on my computer). It's not a freebie, though, but worth the money.

Thanks for the feedback. I have tried quite a few IRs from Lexicon/TC etc and none have sounded quite right to me. I suppose the ideal solution would be a set of IRs from the hall that EWQLSO was recorded in, but even then I would guess the reverb trails would be better.

I have had a play with Pristine Space. It is good, but does the same job as SIR. The latency does not bother me too much as I do not use it while tracking.

Any more suggestions from users?

Thanks,
Wayne
