Hi .
What do you think guys, about this impressive(at least for me)score?

One of the things that actually impress me was de development of the melody in the main theme. How diferent sound a Dorian mode,on some middle east instruments and the way that the composers(ANASTASIA)resolve to strech the main motive without repeting it,changing the modes.

Some people says that this is one of those film scores that stands by itself.I think this is true.

What do you think? .......and Why?

Cheers

Are you speaking about the Russian film?

If so, I think its a tremendous score that does indeed stand well enough on its own. A wonderful film as well, one that I highly recommend.

Hi Joseph.
It is not Russian. It is Macedonian. The director was Milcho Manchevski and the score was made by a macedonian ethnic band; Anastasia.
By the way,I have been looking for the soundtrack since 1997 and I haven't found it yet.So if you guys know where to find it,let me know.
Also I Highly recomend this music for every person interested in world music composition.

Sorry, yes, you are correct. My uncle went to Macedonia about 5 years ago for the US Government and when he returned (full of great stories) he picked both the soundtrack and movie up for me, knowing I'm fond of music.

Thanks for bringing this movie up, BTW. I think I'll give the CD a spin tonight.
