Ok, I am look for a nice, large synth lib and this one seems like it might fit the bill, HOWEVER I need to know if it is only loops and such or if it actually has multi-sample "instruments" as well. I saw that it has Intakt (which is for loops) but nothing about Kompakt, so I am curious.

Anyhow, anyone used this lib? Anyone like it? How is it compared to Atmosphere? How is it for film work? Any info would be AWESOME! Thanks,

I have Altered States, and i believe it would be excellent for film/TV work.

The player (Intakt) is very user friendly. You can see the waveform right in
the GUI, and you can easily change start/end points or anything you like.
Also time stretch and other helpful stuff.

The library is pretty huge. Its somewhat like Atmosphere, wich i also own, but
A.S. has a different vibe, and just seems bigger to me. More stuff.
Definatly more unusual sounds.
And yes, there are multisamples, but mostly sound design type synths and stuff.

Hope that helps a little. :)

Do you own Atmosphere? If not, definitely buy it instead. Altered States is kind of a swiss army knife for ecletic sounds. Some are good and some are not so good. As far as it having great synth patches there are far more better sounding VST's IMHO. It does have some neat rhythmic loops and odd phrases so if you see a need for that it may fit the bill. Again, if your looking for a mostly synth type instrument check out Morphology, Absynth, Chameleon, etc. And of course Atmosphere... Eric Persimg just flat out makes gorgeous sounding instruments.

All the very best,

PS I don't work for Spectrasonics ;)
