Something has happened to my EWQLSC setup that has caused the samples to not play correctly, and I'm pulling out my hair at this point trying to figure out what to do. The program worked perfectly for so long, but suddenly last night, I can't get the multi-based instruments to play. For instance, if I load Full WB Tenors Soft Mod, no sound comes out if I press the keys. The odd thing is that the DFD light is blinking as well as my HDD light, so it's streaming the samples off the disk, but Kompakt isn't actually playing them. Nearly all the multis are like this. With some, only the first instrument of the multi works (like P1 will play, but P2 through P5 won't), while with most others, none of them do. The single instruments all work fine. Here's a list of what I've tried:
- A complete re-installation after cleaning the registry did not work (reinstalled the program, the upgrade, re-copied the samples, and reinstalled the library definitions).
- Word Builder and my sequencer are not the problem. After I found out about the problem, I started testing the standalone version to avoid red herrings. The standalone has the problem as well as the VSTi.
- The keyboard is not the problem. I've been using the mouse to press the keys on Kompakt. Still no sound.
- The sound device is not the problem. Most of the small instruments in EWQLSC are working, but with the large multis, the sound level meters on Kompakt don't even come up.
- DFD is not the problem. I deactivated it and loaded a full multi into the hard memory. Still no sound.
- I checked the hard disk where the samples are stored for errors. No difference.
- I flushed the system swap file. No difference.
- I disabled memory lock in the settings. No difference.
I kept thinking this was a memory problem, but I tried my other EWQL titles and filled them up with keyswitching instruments, but they behave fine. Only EWQLSC is having and issue.
I'm at my wits end, especially since this happened so suddenly and I don't know how it happened. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. I just want to get back to work.
