You mean hardware or software synths? I bet he uses almost all software synths on every project...

Hans Zimmer has pretty much the same setup, except that he has even more computers that work as (giga-)samplers, and that they use Xeon CPUs instead of P4s - just like his main SX 3 sequencing computer.

Yipes, that reads kind of like my synth list... granted perhaps on a "slightly" smaller scale though! Maybe. :)
Good choice re all the Waldorfs!!!
It may sound crazy to have all of those synths, but believe me, not so crazy. I bet he uses/browses his synths the way some people use/browse through patches on only one synth.
If you do have that much available you tend to go to certain instruments for a certain sound - and they do indeed have individual characteristics and specialties. Also... why would you bother struggling to achieve a certain sound on synth a, when it might be only a couple tweaks on synth b... that kind of thing. Especially if you're on a tight schedule. Finally... I think having that many choices and that much variety helps to keep things from sounding too boring. I think it would get pretty boring if you just had the same handful of synth sounds all the time.
I tend to incorporate at least 20-30 different synths on most Inquisitor Betrayer projects (since the IB stuff is what tends to be more synth oriented). But that doesn't necessarily (hopefully) mean that it's a big mess. Things get layered, where certain synths are providing certain elements or aspects of a given sound. Other people are doing this too... as evidenced by the popularity of the new Kore product and other similar things. So you think you're only hearing three or four synth lines but in reality you might be hearing three or four times as many.
