A lot of people may not be familiar with this man and his music, but he was a true original. He experienced some very horrific events in his life, yet was able to go forward and compose music that we still may not appreciate or understand completely. A most remarkarble man and gifted composer.

Thanks for posting this.
I love Liget's music his Etudes for piano and his string quartets are among ny favorites.
His trio for violin, horm, and piano is another great one.

Another great composer (with the full meaning of the word), goes away. I guess maybe Bullez will be next... who knows really...
Apart from his music, I knew that Ligetti was extremly difficult when jury in contests, never ever gave a price to anyone. Just some trivia info I guess...

I remember hearing his 'Melodien' for the first time... what an amazing piece of music!
It's awful to think of who's next, but then again, Schoenberg fans the world over will have a chuckle when some go-getter bluntly declares, "Boulez is dead."
