An incredibly talented artist, with an incredibly skewed view of the world.

There's a very strange discrepancy between mr. Jackson's lyrics, and the way he speaks in interview. The lyrics seem to be articulate, and denoting a degree of maturity and intelligence.

I never know what to think of him.

On the one hand he is really talented (and probably really tormented as a young child), and on the other hand I really really don't believe that there can be smoke with no fire, if you know what I mean.

I recently bought, Bad, and then the black and white album and saw a lot of simmilairites, between the two.

Although I like a lot of his songs, generally I don't find him to be so creative anymore. :-/

I ask only his artistic talent , not other.

Back in the day I felt he was an amazing talent. The first time I saw him do "Billie Jean" at one of those awards shows I was blown away by his originality and creativity. The last album which I thought was decent was "Bad". Since then I think most of his work is uninspiring and downright boring. Coincidentally, "Bad" was the last album that Quincy Jones produced with him. I guess all the negative publicity surrounding him and his strange appearance doesn't help any, but as an artist I think his time has come and gone.

Michael Jackson or is it Peter Pan? as he is referred to by many, he at least seems to be in a fantasy world but all of that doesn´t really interest me at all because as an artist I think he is amazing and certainly contributed to pop history, not forgetting the guys who produced his records, wow they were just great producers !

I saw him in "BAD TOUR" in 1988 (Paris, parc des prince), it was AMAZING...

There's no limit to the power of the Quincy touch. That in conjunction with Rod Temperton tunes = pure gold. MJ was a true original and a monster vocalist in terms of rhythm and phrasing. I think the partnership betwen Q, MJ, and RT is among the greatest in (pop) music history. Off the Wall and Thriller are amazing records, regardless of genre, and showcase what can actually be accomplished when a real producer is on the case.

I agree with Shnurgle, brilliant talent and I would also throw Beatles/George Martin in there for pioneering and setting the standard bewteen producer/artist.

oh neil..........my god...this guy is my biggest inspiration...i have like 40gbs of videos/concerts of him.....years ago a was almost obsessed....in my opinion we are talking about the mozart of pop/rock music....i mean at 13 years old this man with songs like "ben" "music and me" and others did something awesome more than all the pop singers that we hear today....that's my opinion...true genius also in dancing, beatboxing, writing poetries. for the stuff about his life....well ...he had a really bad youth ...sorry for my english

Neil, believe me, I have watched that 95- performance hundreds of times (or at least 150), I'm not kidding. I had a shortcut to the video (medley + Dangerous) on my desktop for several years. I have also seen the number live at concerts, twice, with slightly modified choreography though.

I don't think people understand what a genius he is. THere's only one of its kind, nothing even comes close. Its absurd that such a palette of skills is put into one single human being. Freak or not, he is one of the greatest talents that has ever lived.

BTW, he is working on a new album planned for release late 2007, but as always it is going to be a year or two delayed.

was searching the forums for 'Music Awards' and found this instead

Glad it is still up though - coz I have been a fan of MJ's since I was a kid. And his performance for the 1995 MTV Music Awards was his best ever!

I have so many concerts of his including History Volumes I & II - he has raw talent and nobody can touch him on the dance floor

Amazing artist - incredible :)

Love him or hate him, despite what many people may think there is no doubt MJ is one of the most talented (if not THE most) singers in the world. His contribution to popular music and culture simply cannot be overlooked. If like me you were born in the eighties and grew up as a kid watching him, it'd pretty much be disrespectful to NOT be a fan! Sure the guy has some personal issues, no doubt as a result of his rough childhood and the way they were all treated, but it would be a shame to remember him only for this when he has contributed so much to the music industry.

Tell me you HAVEN'T attempted to moonwalk AT LEAST ONCE in your life! :)

come on Neo

I'm not sure how well said that was. Cmon guys...just keeping things honest. Of course I grew up with the moonwalk and all his tunes...loved everything....except Thriller though because I had nightmares for a while. At the same time...if I know someone likes to play his own version of hide and go seek with little kids in his own created Never-Land....no I guess it doesn't mean the music stops being good...or the memories change.... however... you mentioned RESPECT!!! HAH!!!! You mentioned his childhood.. HAH!! This almost comes across as if "well he's had a screwed up childhood...so its ok for him to screw up another child's childhood???" This is not something like he had an affair or pulled a Pee Wee Herman... this is.... he likes sexual encounters with little children & would continue to enjoy doing so given the chance. Somehow it just taints things for me...call me crazy.

who cares for his personal issue

He's got more than one issue! :p & maybe the child and child's family who he plays with might care?

Sorry to crash the MJ party...I'll leave you to glorify him in peace...I just can't do it... nor can I be more light hearted so better if I leave.

when I said "come on neo" I never meant it in a bad way

I simply meant let's just keep this forum professional as in "no trash talk" ONLY talk about music to a professional basis

If I wanted to talk about MJ's childhood and back story then I would do that on a forum served for general chat about literally anything

Please understand this forum may be 'General' and may include 'Other Music Discussion' but general in terms of music between composers

That's all I was saying and I meant it in a very nice tone of voice even though it is hard to tell one's tone through words on a screen :)

Anyways no hard feelings!

Thanks

No worries Phantom. :)

Certainly my initial comment definitely could be construed as trash talk....or a joke...whatever you like. My second comment was more clear and to the point...just being honest about how I see the guy.

Take it easy man!
