Hi to all the experts out there

I desperately need help with getting WB to sing words.

I am using WB as a standalone between Cubase5.1 and EWQLSC (Kompakt). I have set WB Midi IN to Maple Midi Port 1, Midi Ch1 and Midi OUT to Maple Midi Port 2, Midi CH1.

I recorded a "Doh Ray Me ...Doh" scale on Cubase and a similar phrase on WB and set CC20 to the start of the sequence.

With "Soprano Multi R" loaded and set to Midi CH1-IN and pressing the onscreen keys in Kompakt I can hear sound from the choir, so audio is OK. (Soprano Voice Type is also set in WB)

I can see the Midi IN icon flash on CH1 IN in WB so its receiving Midi and I can see the Midi IN icon in Kompakt so its sending OK

When I play the sequencer all I hear is one sound on the last "Doh" of the scale which should be pitched at C4 but the pitch I hear is an F.

Where are the words? Where is the correct pitch?

I have spent hours trying to get WB to sing words. Everthing seems to be installed correctly and working but no words. What am I doing wrong?

Dual Core Pentium D, 3GHz
2Gig ram
200Gig HD
2x32 bit audio cards

Hello,

Cubase 5.1 is quite old, and I haven't tested it here to see if it will take all the MIDI in from WordBuilder, but there's the underlying concept:

You need to send MIDI out one track to WordBuilder. The MIDI then needs to come back into Cubase and Choirs on a different port, on all channels, making sure that you don't filter out any MIDI data.

Hi Sam

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Since posting I think I have figured out the problem. My setup is correct but my midi file was recorded in the wrong range for the soprano multi I selected so I was only getting the last note of the scale.

When I shifted it up an octave I could hear my scale. Getting it to form correct words is now the new challenge but I have only been at this for a few weeks, so I am still working on that.

Do you know of any midifile/votox files out there for newbies to learn from? I would suggest that something like a "Doh ray me" scale would be invaluable for beginners at this stage.

I cannot find any examples to test this system available anywhere. If you can help here it would be most appreciated.

Peter

Hi Peter,

It's best to learn from the Votox alphabet I have posted on the FAQ (http://support.soundsonline.com/faq/index.php?action=artikel&cat=2&id=55&artlang=en).

Here's some major scale solfege for you:

Do reE mE Fa So la TE Do
