Hi
I am courious what Stratocaster sound you like. In my opinion the best sound had Hank Marvin with his old Custom Shop Fender guitar and Mark Knopfler with his Schecter ( ). Today Fender has no model with such twangy sound and strong attack.

I would say the strat sound from eric clapton, very nice sound, i like the knob on it that give this particular sound. I would also say the david gilmour's sound , very nice too. and of course the knopfler one.

There are simply too many to mention, I´m especially big on Mike Stern although he plays mostly the Telecaster. Also check out Albert Lee ! ;)

I have recently heard samples recorded with Kinman pickups from http://www.kinman.com. Now I can say these pickups are "better Fender than Fender" and what you think about these pickups?

That's hard to answer, but stick any of them into a Twin Reverb and they will sound damn good.

It is really sad that the biggest and most unique ever Strat sound is being ignored: Ritchie Blackmore. No one has ever been able to duplicate it. Malmsteen got close, but his playing technique limits the sound. Gilmour is another great name in Strat sound, but EMG, active electronics.... Blackmore never used anything but stock Strats and pickups. How he gets that sound beats me...

Re: Kinman pickups.
There is only one special thing about the Kinmans: low noise! Otherwise I fully agree with gstitt: stick 'em into a good amp and all sound good. And taste is an opinion, it is so individual!
