If you move your license from the iLok USB dongle to the local machine, I assume the following:

The dongle will no longer be required
The iLok service will phone home to ensure the licenses are valid

Am I correct? I ask because yesterday, the iLok servers went dark just when I sat down to work.

I've looked through the support / faqs on ilok.com but can't find the answer to this question. I thought someone here would know the answer. :)

Thanks!

The procedure is as follows:

Log into the iLok License Manager.
Select all of the licenses you wish to move from the dongle to the machine.
Drag and drop them from the iLok icon to the machine icon.
Wait for the blue progress bar to disappear.

- The dongle will then no longer be required.
- PACE won´t follow up on the switch.

The PACE servers were down yesterday. They should be up again.

How does Composer Cloud work in that scenario?

Thanks for the reply Lorenz!

The Cloud is exactly like the perpetual licenses you´re used to: Drag and drop!

You´re welcome.

Something must "phone home" with the cloud licenses though, because they expire each month. Just curious.

I´m not exactly sure how it works, but an internet connection is required.
